Leadership Sensitivity 
The position of a leader in its self is a complex and sensitive designation. As much as influence is the core center of leadership, sensitivity plays a fundamental role in galvanizing people. I have seen leaders unintentionally allow the right caliber of people to slip off their hands because they were not sensitive enough to connect to their internal source and guide them on a path. Some young minds require a certain kind of leadership cover that will bring out the best of them; such leadership cover is driven by sensitivity. Some people that occupy leadership positions have focused on themselves such that they have lost sight of their human capital.  Leadership sensitivity requires genuine interest, the right motive and openness to create a strong interface between the "mentor" and the "protege". Sensitivity to needs, aspirations, strengths, capacity, interest, flaws of your "followers" helps your decision making as well as helps you to assess the entire human capital base from a helicopter view.
It is a wrong assumption to think that your position as a leader automatically makes it possible for you to influence people around you. It is essential that you move with the intention to know; to know your team beyond face value. Becoming interested in what makes them tick is deliberate move on the path of influence.
