Street Wisdom
I am intentional about my circle of influence. As I interview and converse with people who occupy leadership positions in varying capacities with the intention of collating the principles they deploy to achieve results, my "Aha" experience with them is usually unending.
I discovered that one of the principles that have helped people experience huge results and record great milestones is something quite "common" and random as it were. "STREET-WISDOM". Being "street wise" is an important dot that connects us to great experiences. Street Wisdom here doesn't necessarily mean hanging around street corners and selling cracks or engaging in maladaptive behaviors, it is metaphorical for "environmental sensitivity". Being street wise connotes being aware of your environmental dynamics and how to align with the shift in changing times. It also means branding and positioning yourself to communicate the quality of your idea, product, or service.
It means aligning yourself to function in synergy and not against the tide of globalization, business in the 21st century and societal value creation. It means being aware of who you are and navigating the rough edges that are peculiar to your business and industry you function in. As a HR practitioner, street wisdom for me is bench-marking the right caliber of people, training and developing myself, constant self-reinvention and holistic balance across different areas of my life...What is street wisdom for you? Define it and align to it.
