Living in Interesting Times
The old Chinese saying "may you live in interesting times" is considered both a blessing and a curse. Apparently, that is where we find ourselves - in a world that is unpredictable, incomprehensible most of the time and incredibly interesting. Amazingly, the times we live in today are saddled with paradoxes of civilization - even the ideas that seemed to be yardsticks for measuring best
practices for leadership and management have become archaic. However, the fast changing state of the world have pushed leaders and thinkers to form new ideologies, strategies and patterns that align with the current internet driven world. Consequently, the style of leading talents seem to be more evolving. Companies that have held on to the stringent pattern of people management which proposes that life and work should be treated differently while employees find the balance, have paid the huge price of employee turnover. Therefore, being in constant awareness of the changes around the world of work and balancing them will be a demonstration of pro-activity which is relevant in these interesting times.
